[Architecture has] the power to tear asunder the placidity of boredom, and raise your faith into heavens like an unfettered eagle soaring into open sky.
The bracketed words are mine but the rest I borrowed from an article written by Kooi F. Lim, titled "The Soaring Rhythm of Unshakeable Faith". I merely inserted two additional words to the sentence and whola, a whole new meaning emerges.

I am not a religious person, neither do I believe in the power of divinity. Nevertheless, I must admit that since time immemorial, religion has played a pervasive role in shaping every aspects of life, society, art, literature and last but not the least, architecture.
One does not have to be religious to appreciate and admire religious edifices; many great religious buildings are designed by the non-believers. Even "Le Corbusier did not believe in God but he had no hesitation in declaring that architecture is a religion". Perhaps, we should forget about the holy books or put aside the religious scriptures if we want to make God's presence real in our lives. We just have to look no further than architecture.
