“Is this financial crisis going to be the end of green, or is green going to be how we end this financial crisis?”

“THE WORLD IS FLAT” is the title of the book by Thomas Friedman, a New York Times columnist that caught my attention few years back. Ever since then, I have been an ardent visitor to Thomas Friedman’s website in hope to get a first hand info on his current world view of political science. I am fond of short phrases or quotes, particularly one that sounds obscured in meaning, such as the title of this book.
No, the world isn’t flat as we all already know ever since the time of Copernicus, Galileo and Keppel; so does Thomas Friedman. This particular title is only to be understood as a metaphoric description of the current state of the world from an economist’s point of view – no less and yes more!
Three years has passed since the book was first released in 2005 and before the dust has a chance to settle on the cover, Thomas Friedman heats up the shelves again. In his recent book, “Hot Flat and Crowded: Why we need a green revolution and how it can revitalize America.” , Thomas Friedman describes that the world is not only flat but it’s getting hotter and crowded.
Thomas Friedman argues that unless we take a stance on “greening” the world, this minute speck we live in, will be heading for ecological Armageddon. By the way, I am thinking of selling off my 5-year-old Proton Wira with 2 years more to pay off the loan! Any takers? I am really broke!
