“I won’t work for totalitarian regimes.”
Our country seems to have been hit by the “debating fever” of late. It’s heartening to see politicians on both side of the divide are discoursing issues live on national TV. However, what pissed me off was that the debates were often ended with the aggrieved party hurling personal abuse at his antagonist. Such was witnessed in yesterday’s debate between the current Chief Minister of Penang and his predecessor.
The main issue of yesterday’s debate is the alleged controversial Penang LAND SCAM happened during the tenure of the former Chief Minister. The biggest land scam of all is the proposed PGCC. Please read here and here. In case you are wondering, PGCC its an acronym of Penang Global City Centre, which was launched almost a year ago at a cost of MYR 25 billion. Some would prefer to call it Penang's Greedy City Centre instead.

Hani Rashid from Asymptote and Nasrine Seraji from Atelier Seraji are the two starchitects who have been commissioned to lead the development. Hani Rashid will design the two iconic towers (see photo above) while Nasrine Seraji will oversee the master plan. What many aren’t aware of is that the two iconic towers are actually a gateway to a “graveyard full of tombstones”.
If the whole development is nothing but a land scam, then the parties involved are not also guilty to some degree? I guess, the fees are too lucrative to ignore. As Jacques Herzog would put it,“only an idiot would have said no.”
Am I an idiot all this while?
