"When I think about architecture, images come into my mind. Many of these images are connected with my training and work as an architect"
-- Peter Zumthor, Swiss architect
Swiss architect wins the 20th Annual Praemium Imperiale Award in Architecture
Peter Zumthor sees architecture as images in his mind and some of those images belong to his childhood memories. To Zumthor, memories are reservoirs of the architectural atmosphere and images that often found its way into his thinking process.
As for me, I've often liken memories to some sort of directories or folders that are made up of multi-levels of hidden neurons in my brain. They are my present's mode that link back to my past that is frozen in time. They appear to me according to my present interests; just like keying a specific phrase or word on a "google" search bar - requesting my "memories" to bring forth what I want.
I believe that the ability to imagine myself in place frozen in time, is a profound way for me to look at things from a subliminal perspective that constantly reminds me of my very existence.
